It is a pancake design utilizing the infamous “speed clips” of our METRO holster. Â This provides two points of weight distribution, a total high-riding, body-hugging design yet is very easy to install and remove from the belt without having to loosen your belt. Â Securely and comfortably wear your Leatherman every day with this holster.
It is normal to use two hands to remove the Leatherman as you want this expensive tool secure in its holster.
As with all of our Kydex holsters, this is completely waterproof and very durable.
Version 1.0 Belt Clip Information
FOMI PLASTIC MOLDED CLIP –  (The most popular belt clip).

– Quality, sleek injection-molded belt clip.
- Currently available in 1.5″ or 1.75″ belt sizes.
– Reverse tab design securely clips over the belt.
– Remove from belt easily with the reverse tab.
MONOBLOCK GEAR CLIP – Dual steel clip with a dark matte grey non-reflective finish that resists corrosion very well. This belt clip is low profile and can be worn with or without a belt. It will fit over belts up to 1.5″.
TEK-LOK – Versatile: With 9 mounting holes, the Tek-Lok can be mounted for horizontal or vertical carry. Quick Release Tabs: The hinged two-piece Tek-Lok frame is locked into place with two release tabs and unlocked by pressing both release tabs toward each other. Secure: Featuring an intuitive double locking system, the Tek-Lok will stay on your belt even with extreme force applied to it.  Adjustable Shims / Belt Sizing: Two belt shims keep the Tek-Lok in place on the belt. These interlocking bars can be set to match the belt width, leaving a channel of the correct size. Precision Molded Design: Made in the USA with high-strength glass-filled nylon and contoured to better fit the profile of the body to eliminate hot spots.

I just received my leatherman version 1 holster and I am very pleased with it. the original design is for outside the waistband, which is great for when I am work, but sticks out a little far for EDC. On weekends, I just flip the case around so it is between my belt and my pants and it hugs so close to my body it is almost unnoticeable, and I can still use my index finger to pop I it out of the sheath. Great product.

I received my version 2, with speed clips for my Leatherman Surge yesterday, anyone who carries a large multi-tool knows what a pain it can be! This holster kicks ass!!!!!!!! I am 6’4 240lbs and at age 43 the love handles are present. in know way does this holster jab my sides at all. I can sit in my office, drive in my truck, and perform all my daily tasks in complete comfort. It holds close to the body, spreads the weight of the tool out, looks fantastic ( black carbon fiber ) , best $$65 I have ever spent. Must order an OWB for the Glock 43 soon. I got the version 2 for my Skeletool and this thing is BA. I own several holsters from several big name companies and none impressed me as much as this has.
It fits the Skeletool perfectly. It clicks in positively. And the nice thing is the holster is wide. This means, if you’re working on the ground and you roll on the holster, it spreads the load evenly, which makes it more comfortable.

Just wanted to drop a note thanking you for my order. It was a kydex Leatherman holster w/graveyard color. It arrived in good condition and in a timely manner once it was finished. I appreciate that part of the money went to those who are less fortunate as I have been homeless for some time. The fit for my leatherman(once I played with it a bit) is perfect. I wanted my Leatherman to ride in style on my belt and so far your holster has been the best way to do that.

I found-out about Detroit Holster Company, from a poster over at the EDC forum. The poster, proudly showed-off his Leatherman kydex, that you guys built for him. Right then and there, I knew I had to have one! Ordering was fast, and easy on your website. The amount of kydex versions available are in itself, mind-boggling. Not knowing what to expect, I opted for your version 1.0 holster in the black basketweave pattern. My order took about two weeks. I purchased your Leatherman Holster about a month ago, and wanted to leave some feedback.
Overall: I rate it at 5/5.
Background: I am an Army Engineer officer. I’ve been carrying a Leatherman nearly every day for the last 4 years. I wear it in the field, in the office, working on vehicles, pretty much whenever I am in uniform Im have my multitool on me. I have had to replace my leather or nylon sheath about once a year for the past 3 years. They always seemed to fail at the interface of the belt loop to the body of the sheath. This was independent of whether it was leather or nylon, sewn or riveted. I currently have a leather one that I could tell after only having it for a bout 6 months would more than likely fail again in the next 4-6 months. I was tired of materials failing and hated the uncertainty of potentially loosing my Leatherman and not realizing it (which actually did happen at Sapper school, but that was due to my belt not the sheath).I spent about half an hour looking over the internet and you guys were the only folks I could find who sell Kydek Leatherman sheaths. I opted for the Tek-Lok belt mount due to the fear of it falling off my belt as mentioned above.
Testing: I have worn it on my uniform everyday for the last month or so. At first, I was apprehensive about there being nothing to secure the tool in on the top. When I first got it I put the tool in and shook it, and found that it took an average amount of effort to shake it loose. I then thought to myself that I wouldn’t be upside down too often (if ever) so maybe the fear of it falling out was more in my head than a potential risk. Out of habit, I will occasionally push the Leatherman down multiple times a day, and I can not remember once when I did so that I felt the tool had come dislodged even a quarter of an inch. I probably take it out of the sheath 1-3 times a day, and have not noticed any additional wear on the frame of the tool. The Tek-Lok belt stop is incredibly secure and I have never been afraid of it or the screws failing and losing my tool.
Summary: Your holster for my Leatherman Surge is a great product that I will recommend to my friends and coworkers. After a month of daily usage, the tool remains secure even after getting tossed around in a vehicle here or there. The robustness of the product lends trust to its durability and ability to withstand constant motion.
