Do you have a retail storefront I can visit/pick up my order or can I have a tour?
No. At this time, we do not have any storefront area and we do not allow customers to pick up orders for the same reason we do not offer tours. Our manufacturing process is confidential and as always security is a top priority.
What is Kydex / Holstex?
Kydex / Holstex is a line of thermoplastic acrylic-polyvinyl chloride alloy sheet grades. It is frequently used as an alternative to leather in the production of firearm holsters as well as sheaths for knives. It is moisture, mildew, chemical and wear-resistant and will not stretch or shrink under normal conditions.
Detroit Holster uses Kydex & Holstex material exclusively in its holsters and pouches to handcraft the best products possible. KYDEX® Thermoplastic Sheet is a registered trademark of Kydex, LLC and is the only manufacturer of this material.
Warranty:
All of our handmade products have a comprehensive warranty. If it breaks from “normal wear and tear” from one [1] year of ship date we will repair or replace it (only one has ever broken and it was used hard for years!) THIS DOES NOT COVER ABUSE. Warranty is void if the holster has not been used according to the Terms of Use or has been altered. Normal finish wear on the eyelets and screws is to be expected. We reserve the right to deny any replacement if the holster shows signs of blatant abuse.
To receive your replacement holster, contact us, and we will determine the appropriate course of action.
We carefully inspect each item before it ships out to ensure it meets both our standards and yours. If your product does not live up to expectations let us know and we will do our best to resolve your issues. We will work with you until we get it right.
Do not attempt to fix the holster yourself unless you have been given the permission or instructions to do so. Doing so may void your warranty.
Please carefully inspect your cart and your invoice. Once payment is received your custom holster work will commence and any after-ordering changes may incur additional expenses. Thank you for verifying your order prior to submitting it.

All holster orders are custom, made-to-order. We invest a significant amount of time and cost of material to build Detroit Holsters and have established a very large and happy customer base. People love our holsters. If you are not confident in ordering – please don’t order. ALL SALES ARE FINAL.
Is my holster going to look exactly like the one in the photo?
No. Each holster is a custom piece of gear made by hand according to your specifications. However, it will likely look similar to the ones pictured.
Is there tension on light/laser-bearing holster when used with a non-light-bearing gun?
No, there is no retention on a light/laser-bearing holster when trying to holster a gun without the light, since most of the retention is set on the light/laser itself.
What is a sweat shield / body guard?
The sweat guard is the portion on the body side of the holster that sits against your skin. It keeps grease, oil, etc from your clothing and aids in preventing your gun from getting moisture from your body.
Will Kydex scratch my gun?
Yes, just like leather and any other material would. There is no holster that will not eventually wear on a gun. With that being said, Kydex has a very smooth inner surface that is not as abrasive as hard plastic or leather.
Aftermarket modifications – suppressors, lights, lasers, etc.
