This is one of the most popular OWB holsters on the market.
Our DETROIT HOLSTER “METRO“ holster is worn outside the waistband (OWB) and is ultra-comfortable. Our thermo-forming technique for building this holster provides for an approximate 90/10 split of the holster with about 10% of the gun protruding inward toward your body and 90% outward providing for a much closer, body-hugging design than many other holsters on the market utilizing a traditional 50/50 split.
Another great feature is our “Speed Clips”. Traditionally, pancake-style OWB holsters utilized belt clips that required the user to open their belt to “weave” the belt through the holster loops (Wing Clips). With Speed Clips, the user just pops the holster on and off the belt (without having to open or remove the belt). The two points of weight distribution make carrying even a monster Ruger Super RedHawk Alaskan .454 Casull comfortable all day let alone an XDS 45, Glock 19, etc.
With the combination of the ultra-close, body-hugging design, our unique cut and finishing process, Speed Clip convenience, its comfort, and sweet looks – the DETROIT HOLSTER METRO is a great choice for OWB carry.
Another great feature of the METRO is it can be converted for inside-the-waistband (IWB) use by removing the speed clips and replacing them with the optional metal spring belt clips or the soft loop style belt clips. The smaller frame handguns such as the Glock 42, Sig P938/238, etc. are a little tight for the IWB option as the trigger side of the holster doesn’t have enough Kydex to install the IWB clip and yet leave enough clearance distance for your fingers when gripping the gun. If you have big fingers and a smaller frame gun you may want to skip this option.

The below photo shows our METRO holster converted for (IWB) inside-the-waistband use with the optional metal spring clips. Although it wasn’t designed as an IWB holster, it functions well on medium and larger guns. The smaller framed guns such as the Glock 42, Glock 43, etc. don’t have enough holster material on the trigger side of the holster to fit the metal clip as well as the larger guns. The metal clip option comes with additional rubber washers, posts, and screws.
- If you order a holster without the IWB metal clips, the holster will not be built to accommodate them (the holster may not be as wide as a holster originally purchased with the IWB metal clip option factored into its original build design).

I actually own 2 Metro Holsters one of which I carry every day. I always carry it OWB so I cannot comment on the IWB style of carry with this holster. As many of us that carry often do, we end up with a basket of holsters until we find just the right one. The Metro was the right one for me that provided comfort, flexibility, ability to conceal, and most important to me was the proper angles for drawing the weapon from the holster. Detroit got that right! Not the least expensive but as I said the first one I purchased convinced me that a second one was a no brainer.

I have 2 Metro Holsters . Glock 43 and Kahr P380 I find it very comfortable to ware all day. In the 3:00 position. Out side waist band. It is well constructed and hugs my body to reduce printing. The attachment belt loops are great to take on and off as you go into some building where firearms are restricted. The holster draws very smooth with good adjustable retention. I would highly recommend your product to anyone looking for a great concealment holster. – Mark

I received my Metro holster almost 6 months ago and I LOVE IT! I wear it OWB using the “speed” belt clips on my right hip and setup for straight (right) draw. I ordered the accessories for IWB and standard belt loops but have never used them. The speed clips make it quick to install and remove the holster without taking your belt half-off to unthread it although I usually loosen the belt when I install/remove the holster just to make the process as easy as possible.
It fits my Glock 26 with Viridian R5 laser like a glove and holds tight to my body. I can (and have) wear this holster all day long with no discomfort. The only problem I have with the holster is that when I wear it access to my right front jeans pocket is restricted due to the its width – it is a small inconvenience but worth noting.
I had the ECR magnet installed in my Metro holster to automatically activate/deactivate the Viridian laser. The magnet works perfect…I just wish the laser itself worked as well. My laser turns itself off randomly, making me push the button (often more than once) to turn it back on. I returned the laser for service and the replacement does the same thing but even more often. This is not a fault with the holster but I felt I should warn other that while the ECR magnet works perfectly, the laser’s ECR function may unreliable. – Uncle B

I bought the Metro holster for a S&W Shield and the speed clips. I’ve used it almost everyday since I bought it (6-9 months?). Initially I had to file off a sharp corner at the very top, but that took 2 seconds with a file. Retention is great and it holds close along waist (no “printing” of a gun under a t-shirt). I’ve recommended this holster to others and will be buying another at some point. – Jeremy

The Metro is one of the best holsters I’ve ever purchased. Quality of the holster is top notch, purchased two…one for my Sig Sauer P220 and the other for my Glock 23. One of the things I like about this holster is the fact the sweatguard covers the entire rear of the slide so my pistol do not make contact with my skin. I also like the positive “click” when holstering my pistols as I can feel and hear my pistols being secured. For the cost of this holster compared to others…you get quality without breaking the bank. Being new to CCW (but not new to firearms) I have spent a lot of time researching holsters and carry options. Sorting thru all of the information on the web around various holsters / holster manufacturers, and navigating the myriad of opinions and “expertise” offered by just about everyone around what is best / which is best / who its best for etc. was a daunting task indeed (some good advice and counsel for sure, but also some suspect advice as well).
Anyway, before purchasing my first Detroit Holster, I tried one other brand of OWB holster but it did not live up to many of my key criteria for a CCW holster (safety & retention; concealability; accessibility; ease of on / off; and comfort). Although I tried your Metro “2nd”, I feel that I got lucky in finding your company and saving me from the dreaded “drawer full of holsters”!

Alas, I received it and when putting my gun in the holster, for the life of me, I couldn’t take out the gun. After grumbling a while I started investigating and realize, not knowing, that I had recently change my sights to TFX Pro which happen to rise higher in the front. D. H. I just received my new Metro holster and could not contain myself and had to communicate with you.
First off I am not a new permittee having been permitted since about 1993. I usually carry IWB but have been interested in OWB lately and thus the purchase of the Metro with speed clips.
Secondly the fit to the firearm is superb with perfect retention for my taste. The finish is excellent, smooth edges, no burrs or sharp edges. The fit on my gun belt is top notch, it pulls in very tight to my body, no gaps between my side and the pistol grip, no wobble, no wiggle, no worries.

I have been carrying a concealed handgun for over 15 years. I used a cheap form fitted holster for the first 9 years and it broke. I couldn’t find that same holster for sale and after a few years of “buyers regret” with several different holsters I found Detroitholster. I bought a 8 Mile holster for my Glock 23, a good holster with no complaints from me however hot Houston summers made the 8ile less then comfortable. I’ve found your metro holster to be the best holster for me it’s super comfortable. I have 2 Metro holsters for my S&W shield and my G36. I just ordered a Metro for my glock 27. I ordered several of your Metro holsters with the speed clips as the attachment option. I’ve been looking for a long time for an OWB holster that I can easily put on and take off and this looked like it had potential. When I got it I was a little hesitant as I wasn’t sure how the clips would hold up given they are not metal. Well after almost two months of constant use I must say I’m beyond impressed. I carry my VP9SK with a TLR3 every day and have had no issues. Occasionally I wear the VP9 with a TLR1 and again, no issues. The holster keeps the weapon tight to my side and it is so easy to put on and take off without ever having to remove the weapon from the holster. Having tried numerous holsters from various makers your holsters have earned my full respect and support. All my others have been relegated to the storage bin. Got back from my trip to Texas yesterday which was the primary reason I appreciate the rush on my order.
I wore my Glock 23 Gen 5 in this holster for at least 18 hours a day for three days straight. A lot of driving, and unloading a moving truck all while wearing it. The basketweave pattern really is a nice touch and classes it up a lot. It was effortless to don and doff without having to undo my belt.
I am so very pleased with this holster I will be placing an order for my Glock 19 Gen 5 with Trijicon RMR, suppressor height sights, and TLR-1 HL light as soon as I have some liquid assets.

Perfect!!! ECR functions flawlessly. Great concealment for a OWB pancake. I’ve just contacted Viridian and stated an outstanding 5 out of 5 stars for your Metro. Just a slight recommendation, my holster…though perfect in fit and functionality, needed a little more TLC on the finishing. I’d recommend polishing the edges and cuts of the kydex a little more prior to shipping. I had to use a flat fine file to round several areas and used a serious of fine sand paper from 320 to 600 grit to smooth out the sharper edges. Outside of this, the best holster I have come across….especially for a difficult set up such as a Viridian X5L light/laser/cam on a G19 with a Trijicon RMR. Kudos!!

I just got one of these custom-built for my Glock 29 with Viridian C5L laserlight. Detroit Holster is great for brainpower, workmanship, and finessed attention to detail. I gave them a very complicated set of customizing instructions, and they performed 100% on all criteria. These guys work with you, check with you, and make sure the job gets done right. Plus, their version of holster hugs the body half an inch closer than Viridian’s, which is a great plus for concealed carry and can be a real life saver. Also, Detroit Holster built in to my holster an on-off magnet that does the ECR Viridian function. That way, upon drawing, the light is instantly either automatically on or automatically off according to my individual selection in any variable situation. Best custom builders of Glock holsters I’ve found in 6 years of searching for true individual customizing, and I think they can build for any gun-laser-light combination you want to dream up, both left and right handed. And yes, I will be getting more for my other Glocks.
I should have also mentioned that they build the Metro holster with two screws to adjust the retention friction. That seems to be for extra grip strength if you want it, and insurance so that in case one screw ever got loose the other one is there to save your bacon.

I purchased a Detroit Holster METRO OWB for my S&W 9mm M&P Compact, and couldn’t be happier. Previous OWB holsters that I had were bulky and “printed” too much. They were difficult to “snug” to my hip, no matter what I tried. Plus, I had to take my belt off to remove the holster. My Detroit METRO OWB snugs tight to my hip and, best of all, I do not have to remove my belt to either take it off, or put it on. I highly recommend it.

I bought the Metro OWB holster for the glock 43 and bought the companion double magazine pouch. Been using it on a daily bases for over a year.
Best holster I have ever bought. Feels great, no pinching, moves very little and great retention. Could not be happier.

My METRO is for a Glock 40MOS, big heavy gun made comfortable to wear and easier to conceal.
You guys nailed the holster tension on it to, just right. This is my carry rig for Whitetails in the woods and also has seen frequent daily use.

I have 2 Metro Holsters . Glock 43 and Kahr P380 I find it very comfortable to ware all day. In the 3:00 position. Out side waist band. It is well constructed and hugs my body to reduce printing. The attachment belt loops are great to take on and off as you go into some building where firearms are restricted. The holster draws very smooth with good adjustable retention. I would highly recommend your product to anyone looking for a great concealment holster.

I am an ordinary armed citizen absent a military or law enforcement pedigree (although I am prior service, I did not serve in a “combat role”); however, I wanted to drop you a note to thank you for building an excellent OWB holster in the Metro! Also thank you for being good stewards in the community in supporting various charitable organizations (including Wounded Warrior); admirable!
Being new to CCW (but not new to firearms) I have spent a lot of time researching holsters and carry options. Sorting thru all of the information on the web around various holsters / holster manufacturers, and navigating the myriad of opinions and “expertise” offered by just about everyone around what is best / which is best / who its best for etc. was a daunting task indeed (some good advice and counsel for sure, but also some suspect advice as well).
Anyway, before purchasing my first Detroit Holster, I tried one other brand of OWB holster but it did not live up to many of my key criteria for a CCW holster (safety & retention; concealability; accessibility; ease of on / off; and comfort). Although I tried your Metro “2nd”, I feel that I got lucky in finding your company and saving me from the dreaded “drawer full of holsters”!
The Metro is exceptional; meets all of my key criteria for a holster and is extremely high quality! I just ordered 3 more Metros for the other CCW pistols that will be in my “rotation” – based on need. The Metro is an excellent holster and highly recommended by this ordinary armed citizen and newbie to CCW.

Just received the build and so far loving it. Started with swapping various clips every which way to see how it fits and functions and for primary appendix carry hits the fit and function perfectly👌 thank you. And again thank you for the extra clips, I have tested in OWB and found a configuration that works comfortably and fits well. Overall fit and feel is wonderful and other then the expected screws loosenin a lil bit in shipping absolutely loving it thus far and looking forward to this being my EDC.

I just ordered a holster from you for my Springfield Hellcat RDP and I absolutely love it. Best holster I have ever bought. The quality and craftsmanship is spot on. I would also like to purchase a double magazine holster, but noticed it was not available in the list for the hellcat. Is there some other option that would be the same for the hellcat magazine or is it just not available? Thank you. Brent

I am also extremely impressed with your production and delivery time. I had my holster in my hand 7 calendar days after I ordered it. It looks great, but more importantly fits perfectly and suits my needs to a T! Of course I expected nothing less after using the metro holster you made for me to fit both my Gen 5 G17 and Gen 4 G19. It rides very close to the body and is easy to conceal while also being super comfortable. I think you have the best owb holster on the market! Like most of us, I have a large drawer full of unused holsters, but after discovering the Metro Premium OWB it is now the only carry holster I will use. Recently I upgraded my carry pistol from the original Springfield Hellcat to the Hellcat Pro. But, this time the holster build was more challenging because my Pro has a red dot, threaded barrel with comp, suppressor sights, and a off-branded light/laser that had to be sent to Detroit Holster for a mold. I didn’t think they could improve upon the Metro I’ve been using the past few years, but they did. Fit and finish is perfect and, because this new Metro is built wider, the heavier weight of the Hellcat Pro is better distributed and actually feels lighter than my old carry pistol. Though I was fully prepared and willing to wait several weeks, they completed my order and delivered it to me in a little over a week. Outstanding!
